Help us to help poor artisans

Maketick Foundation in association with Bihar Development Trust (BDT) has set its foot to work for the betterment of the handloom weavers in Bihar and its outskirts. Maketick Foundation will focus on the weavers of 'Tasar' Silk who would be exhibiting their products in the USA market. The producers on the other hand would be allotted from which can have handsome income.

KHUSHALI- The Livelihood Program
As stated before, Maketick along with BDT will work to make this program a success. Rightly named 'Khushali' (Happiness) by BDT, it is expected to bring joy and money to the underprivileged 'tasar' silk weavers. Here Maketick Foundation will play a pivotal role of providing credit to the weavers with which they would be able to buy raw materials required for the production. Maketick Foundation will get designs from the renowned Indian and international designers and provide it to the weavers who in return would produce fine and unique 'saris' and other garments. The product would be taken for quality check and showcased in the domestic and international market.
Giving new life to the Chicon workers
In Uttar Prades Maketick is trying to work joining hands with thousand of poor weaver, who are poor economically as they are not able to create proper marketplace for their rich and creative work. Mainly thay were challanged against cheap Chinese materials imported to the country.

Vocational Training Programs
Bihar Development Trust proposes to participate in process of enabling youth of age group 14-35 years to earn more through the benefit of better education and vocational training. The idea is to teach the drop outs and already engaged children, youth and women.

  • Vocational skills like mechanic, electrician, plumber, carpenter, Flame sticks, Lahti, MS office etc
The need and aptitude for learning with be identified by interacting with them. It may take six month to one year to understand the aptitude of each children, youth and women and explain them about the need of learning and how it will help them to increase their earnings. The programme will be integrated with the micro education loan to pay the fees and cost of tool kits. The pass out will be provided jobs and loans for self employment. The model intends to be sustainable in second year of operation itself. The Programs will be replicated all over Bihar and will be scaled to all 500 blocks of Bihar by 2015. The future Goal by Year 2015
